Anatoliki Fragkista lies at an altitude of approximately 680 metres, surrounded by a lush landscape with abundant waters, springs and rich vegetation. It is located about 39 kilometres from Karpenisi and just 5 kilometres from Lake Kremasta, combining the mountainous environment of Evrytania with the nearby presence of the lake.
It is one of the oldest and most historic villages of Roumeli, with references to its existence and name dating back to the 14th century. Its location near the old routes that connected important areas of Central Greece contributed to its development and distinctive character.
Beyond its natural beauty, Anatoliki Fragkista has a strong historical and cultural identity. It is the birthplace of important figures, including Georgios Kafantaris, who served as Prime Minister of Greece in 1924, and the writer Dimitrios Papadopoulos, known by the pen name “Tymfristos”. Its traditional houses, churches, abundant waters and old lanes preserve to this day the character of an authentic Evrytanian village.
