Picturesque Valaora, built at an altitude of around 500 m, spreads across three settlements: Drakopidima (the main quarter), Kondyleika, and Kastraki/Paleochori. It lies on rugged, rocky terrain with an open horizon and a pleasantly “dry” climate.
Valaora is considered the ancestral land of the poet Aristotelis Valaoritis; in Paleochori (“Palioktíria”) there once stood the ruins of his ancestors’ house, while a bust of him can be found in the village.
