Nautical sports in the heart of Evrytania!

Various sports activities take place in the lake, which will enrich the newly established Nautical Sports Club of Evrytania, which has included in its training and competition program several water sports such as rowing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and SUP. In May 2023, he organized two days of sailing activities at Lake Kremaston with great success, where aspiring sailors, regardless of age, with the help of sailors, got their first contact with the sport!

It is one of the largest earth dams in Europe and work on its construction began in 1962 and was completed in 1966 with the operation of the station. The dam is made of soil and gravel, so it is essentially a geodam and not a concrete dam. Its volume is 8,130,000 cubic meters. Its maximum height is 160 meters and the width of the base starts from 670 meters ending at the top in a few tens of meters.

At the base of the dam is the Kremaston Hydroelectric Station. The lake waters are led through four pipelines (with a nominal power of 109 MW each) to the station's four hydro turbines and electricity is generated.
