The building was built in 1934, on an expropriated plot of 1,215 sq.m., and its reconstruction was carried out according to a plan of the Ministry of Education, with the personal work of the residents and materials from the area.
The Museum aims to save and spread the historical heritage of the Mikro Chorio of Evrytania. All the exhibits come from donations from the people of Mikro Chorio and are displayed in five rooms. The visitor can learn about the administrative and socio-economic framework of the 19th and 20th centuries, about the public utility projects, some of which are not preserved today, and about the life of the Mikrochorites in the village or in the places where they lived.
The exhibits are presented in chronological-thematic order and show the individual, family and collective life and activities of the inhabitants of the village in the previous centuries, as well as their contribution to the struggles for independence and democracy from the Revolution of 1821 to World War II and the National Resistance. The collections include historical documents, rich photographic material, names of fighters, fallen, executed and victims, images from the occupation, the chronicle of the historic battle of Mikro Chorio, remnants from the printing press of the National Resistance, as well as household and agricultural equipment, etc.
Autobiographical texts
Of special value are the autobiographical texts and the written personal testimonies of the inhabitants of the village. It is a multitude of manuscripts, referring to incidents and experiences, tragic or pleasant, in years of war or peace, that were engraved in the collective memory. They are texts written by ordinary people, who wrote them to stay, not to be forgotten - not themselves - but these, the events. They are authentic descriptions, which arouse the interest of both visitors and researchers.
Multipurpose Hall Room and Library
In the Multi-Purpose Hall, a video-film is shown with a brief overview of the main development phases of the village.
The Museum has a library, which houses books from Microhorites and Evrytans or books of Evrytanian and Rumeliotian interest in general.
At the entrance of the Museum there is a shop where visitors can buy souvenirs and books.
